TELEGRAMME Where do you currently live? Telegramme has been based in East London for the past 4 years. Working from OPEN studio in Dalston.
What methods and techniques do you use when you create your posters? Our poster ideas can come from the band name, album, song title lyrics or sometimes – ‘hell that would look awesome for this band’. Often the visual starts of as a scrappy note in my pocket sketchbook, resembling little more than a few vague lines often making sense to no one but me. Then its a case of working up the elements with what ever might suit it best. I try not to stick to any-one material. Ink, paint, photocopies, pen, pencil vintage books. What ever works. All fed in to my mac and twisted in to place with photoshop and illustrator then on to the screen printing bed!
Whilst you work what are you normally listening to? Often the band I'm designing for...usually cos I'm lucky enough to work with bands I really like and it helps me get the right feel for the band. Then its anything else that might be playing in OPEN – Diverse to say the least. … And Bruce Springsteen.
If you could design a poster for a person or band of your choice, who would it be? #1 Bruce Springsteen. because …well BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN. #2 having the honour of working with any band we like and listen to is always a pleasure. A Job is always great when what we’re doing just fits with what the band is doing.. thats when its the most natural and fun.
Who or what is your creative influence? My type influence is increasingly becoming informed of the vintage sign painting littered throughout east London. Aside from that I try and keep my influences broad and varied. Allowing anything and everything I see, hear, and read filter through to the posters.

The Awesome Merch VS Poster Roast Series We went out to SXSW in Austin, Texas earlier this year and met a load of the guys that contribute toward Poster Roast at the Flatstock exhibition, we were really blown away seeing their work in person. We are privileged to make a lot of stuff every day here at Awesome Merchandise but what really makes merch & print turn out well? The answer is simple... AWESOME DESIGN!
In our opinion we don't see enough of it, so, we teamed up with Poster Roast with the express aim of showcasing some of the most talented and exciting illustrators around! What is great is that we have printed things for all of the designers involved in the past and we often get orders from bands and businesses that are graced by these designers fresh work!Check out the other designers in the series...
