How you doing? I spend a lot of the day replying to your excited tweets or Facebook posts, thanking Awesome Merch for your merchandise and how happy you are with it. Now it’s my turn! Earlier in the day, Luke (AM boss) sent me some pictures of the shirts for my band (Mike TV) being printed. Hurrah!
You may not know but as well as being a social guru (LOL), I was actually fully trained up as a screen printer. I accidentally got into it, and it actually opened up a whole world of artwork and printing to me. When I started it was just going to be a job BUT within a few weeks, I was walking up to people in the street and grabbing their shirts, and telling them their print was shoddy, and how I could do it better. What a wally.
Anyway, I digress. Screen printing is something that I personally love, and people don’t realise how much detail and quality you can get into a print. Last time I was up in Leeds, I helped out on a job and it was so MUCH FUN. I’m hoping I can do that again soon. Our screen-team (Phil, Rich & Dixon) at AMHQ are top quality, and they care about every single print they make. If there’s one which isn’t 100% perfect, then it won’t be sent out. We’ll blog in the future about the whole process, from when we get your art to the finished article BUT for now, here’s some pictures of the actual printing.
A nice bright blue (contact blue) is in the screen, as the squeegee gets ready to force the ink through the screen and on to the shirt:
Hurrah! The blue layer is down and the image is starting to take shape. This is a two colour print on white shirts. Black ink next:
The black ink is in the screen and shortly the detail will be added, and we’ll have a two colour print on the carousel:
It’s done! The black is down and the world’s ugliest band are once again adorning a t-shirt:
Here’s the final print. Looking awesome!
There we have it. I’ll be picking up the buggers tomorrow and Mike TV will be able to carry on along the rocky road to punk rock obscurity. Check out all our screen print options on the website, right HERE. You’re also the first to know that we’ll be adding a lot more options to the screen department in the very near future (see below). And yes, we do print hoodies, they’re on the site. You name it, we can screen print it. Okay, maybe not that. Weirdo. If you’ve any questions, then mail me. The address is below.
KEEP IT AWESOME!
